In this course, we engage your child in the fundamentals of the Orton-Gillingham Approach. Orton-Gillingham is a science-based, structured, multisensory approach to teaching reading, writing, and spelling. The multisensory activities in this curriculum utilize multiple senses (such as sight, hearing, touch, and movement) simultaneously to enhance learning and memory retention.
In these first 12 weeks of intervention, we cover phonemic awareness skills, letter sounds, blends, digraphs, closed and open syllables, and their exceptions along with multi-syllable words. These lessons are designed to create a clear foundation to help your child learn to decode and encode the English language.
Note: This course is designed for parents and caregivers of children in grades 2-5 who have a letter-sound foundation, but struggle to read and write. No prior knowledge or experience in dyslexia intervention is required.
